On March 19th, 2018, the Kettering Vice/Narcotic Detectives had identified a possible storage unit inside the facility that may be utilized by the suspect arrested on March 17th. However, this unit was not in the suspect’s name and there was no probable cause for a warrant to gain entry. Ptl. Wright and K9 Fuse of the Kettering Police Department were called to the facility and asked to conduct a free air sniff around several storage unit bays. During the sniff, K9 Fuse indicated on the storage unit in question. The resulting search yielded over 60 pounds of marijuana packaged for sale, ammunition and a vacuum sealing machine.
This operation was team effort involving portions of Patrol and Vice/Narcotics, in addition to K9. However, without the efforts, professionalism and well trained K9 team of Ptl. Wright and K9 Fuse, this seizure would not have been possible.
