OFFICER DEVIN MALONEY

K-9 JAX

KETTERING POLICE DEPARTMENT (OHIO)

November 16 @ 0009 hours:

Crews responded to an armed robbery in progress at a market on Stroop Rd. Upon arrival, the clerk stated that the suspect had fled on foot and a last know location was found in the grass. Ptl. Maloney deployed K9 Jax for a track where the suspect was last observed. K9 Jax immediately put his nose to the ground and assumed the tracking posture. The track continued down the sidewalk, through yards, and over fences into the backyard of a residence. Contact was made with the resident who provided information that the suspect was seen running through their yard and fleeing in a vehicle parked out front. Officers located a surveillance camera that was able to provide vehicle information and distinct identifiers. As a result, a subsequent search warrant was executed and suspects were identified and arrested through investigation. This would not have been possible if the K9 track had not led officers to the location of where the vehicle fled.
